YOUNGWOOD, PA.- Westmoreland County Community College sophomore Cam McKinney earned All-WPCC honors, which was announced following the completion of the men's baskeball conference tournament over the weekend.
McKinney led the Wolfpack in scoring and ranked ninth in Region XX this season, averaging 14.8 points per game and he also posted a team-leading 3.6 assists per game. He had 22 or more points in five games this year, highlighted by a 37-point effort in a 107-104 overtime victory at Butler on Feb. 8th, which inlcuded the game-tying basket with two seconds left in regulation and the go-ahead score with 53 seconds remaining in overtime.
In leading the team in assists, McKinney notched back-to-back doubles in January. He went off for 32 points and 10 assists at CCAC on Jan. 17th and then came back two days later to total 17 points and 10 assists at home against Prince George's Community College.
The Wolfpack will host the Region XX Tournament this weekend in Youngwood. Fifth-seeded Westmoreland will open the men's tournament on Friday night when they play #4 Penn Highlands at 6 pm. The winner will advance to the semifinals Saturday at 4 pm against #1 Prince George's, while the other semifinal will fetaure #2 CCAC against #3 Anne Arundel at 6 pm. Saturday's winners will play Sunday in the championship game at 3pm.
