Westmoreland County Community College Baseball team traveled to Lorain County Community College to complete their home and home series. Westmoreland took the lead late in game 1 in a 6-4 victory over Lorain County Community College on Sunday. The game was tied at four at the end of the seventh inning, when Westmoreland in the top of the ninth scored two runs to seal the 6-4 victory.
The Wolfpack got things moving in the second inning, when Dom Koch scored the first run on a wild pitch. Alex Borges Singled to right, scoring Gavin Cancio for the second run of the inning. Westmoreland evened things up at four in the top of the seventh inning when Dom Koch singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Westmoreland tallied eight hits. Alex Borges, Jake Piktel, Koch, and Ronnie Howard all managed multiple hits for the Wolfpack.
Connor Lee was the winning pitcher for the Wolfpack. The pitcher surrendered four runs on four hits over eight innings, striking out 11. Jake Albaugh threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen earning his first save of the season. Albaugh threw a hitless ninth inning, striking out one.
Game two saw Westmoreland fall to Lorain county community college 8-7 on a walk off double. The game was tied at seven with Lorain batting in the bottom of the seventh when they doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Despite the loss, Westmoreland did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Westmoreland fired up the offense in the first inning. Dom Koch drew a walk, scoring Alex Borges. Westmoreland scored five runs in the third inning. Westmoreland's big inning was driven by singles by Tanner Colflesh and Andy Person and a triple by Gavin Cancio. Westmoreland tallied seven hits in the game. Alex Borges and Colflesh all collected multiple hits for Westmoreland. Colflesh and Borges each collected two hits to lead the Wolfpack.
Tyler Husband started the game for the Wolfpack. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out three. Jake Albaugh and Cody Adomnik entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
This ends the home and home series with Lorain seeing the games split 2-2. The Wolfpack now 6-15 will travel to Allegany College of Maryland for a doubleheader on Wednesday with a noon first pitch.
