Women's Basketball Finishes as WPCC Runner UP
Saturday evening saw the third match up between the ladies from Westmorland and Butler. Butler had won the first two games, Westmoreland was looking to win the most important one, and win the WPCC Tournament. Butler jumped out to a 20 to 9 lead after just one quarter, but the Wolfpacks defense then held Butler to just 12, 16, and 12 points in the other three quarters. The first quarter was enough of a lead for Butler to win 60 to 42, and claim the WPCC Conference Championship. "It is hard to guard their size," said Coach James Brymn. "We Just do not have anyone who can match up with them on the inside, and that is where this game was decided."
Makayla Boda topped the Pack with 16 points, followed by Hannah Wedow's 13 points and 9 rebounds. Chloe Willochell added in 8 points, while Angel Kelly and Alexia Stanek scored 3 and 2 points each.
Boda and Kelly were both named to the WPCC All Conference Team for their efforts.
The women's team is not done yet, they will be hosting Penn State BuBois this Tuesday night at 7pm. There will be a live stream of the game linked to the Westmoreland Women's Basketball schedule page.
