Kegerreis Named NJCAA Player of the Week
YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - After posting a huge week at the plate, including a school-record setting performance, Westmoreland County Community College outfielder Tommy Kegerreis was named the NJCAA Division III National Baseball Player of the Week for March 28-April 4.
The week started on March 30 in a doubleheader against NJCAA Division I foe Hagerstown and Kegerreis went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks in the opening game, a narrow 4-3 loss to the Hawks. In the second game, he belted a double and a three-run homer to go 2-for-4 in a 22-9 defeat.
Then on April 2, Kegerreis paceed the Wolfpack in two wins at Kent State-Tuscarawas. He posted a 2-for-4 line in the opening game, a 12-2 Westmoreland win in five innings, which included a double and one RBI. The second game saw a school record fal for hits in a gamel, as Kegerreis went 6-for-6 with another home run, a double and four singles. He drove in four and scored four runs as the Wolfpack pulled away late for a 19-8 triumph.
For the week, Kegerreis batted .750 with 12 hits in 16 at-bats. He had a double in each of the four games, belted two home runs and collected nine RBIs for the week.
On the season, the Wolfpack outfielder is batting .489 (23-47) with an .894 slugging percentage while also leading the team with five home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
