Wolfpack Edged in Extra Innings at Hagerstown
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Westmoreland County Community College Baseball team traveled to NJCAA Division I competitor Hagerstown Community College on Tuesday April 20, 2021.
In the two games, the Wolfpack tallied 16 hits and 7 runs. In game one, Westmoreland was held to only seven hits through the game. Noah Sweeney continued his hitting performance, going 2-for-3 with a single, double and two RBIs. Tommy Kegerreis went 1-for-3 and pounded a home run over the left field wall to earn two RBIs as well. Damian Serralta pitched 3.1 innings, striking out four and Kameron Pritts relieved Serralta in the fourth to pitch 2.2 innings and close out the game. Hagerstown's bats banged out eight hits in their 8-4 win in game one.
In game two, the offense was led by Sweeney, Tanner Orndorff, and Logan Gustafson. Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a double and Orndorff went 2-for-4 and drove in a run. Gustafson went 1-for-3 and also knocked in a run. A strong five-inning pitching performance by Matt Henderson held the Hawks offense to only three hits and two runs. Tanner Orndorff relieved Henderson and started the sixth inning, holding the Hawks to two hits. The game was tied going into extra innings where a new rule places a runner on second base to begin each inning. The Hawks winning rally came in the eighth inning with a stolen base and a single up the middle, sending Westmoreland to a 4-3 loss in eight innings.
The Wolfpack will travel to Garrett College on Monday April 26th for a double header starting at 2 pm
