Lorain County Community College
Saturday afternoon the Westmoreland County Community College baseball team who stood their first home game of the season against Loraine County Community College. The game was tied at one apiece, until Westmoreland broke things open in the third inning scoring nine runs, on their way to a 16 to 6 victory game one.
The Wolfpack pounded out 16 hits, as Tyler Skaggs led the way for the Wolfpack with three hits. Jake Domkowski, Jake Gedekoh, Cameron Seabol, and Noah Matson each added 2 hits each. Gedekoh hit a triple and drove in three runs. Cameron Seabol also drove in 3 runs as well.
Freshman Jacob Kitz went 3.1 innings striking out the first four batters he faced. He finished the game with 7 strikeouts and allowed 5 runs on 5 hits. Ethan Brody finished the last 2.2 innings allowing only 1 run, striking out one.
In game 2, the Wolfpack trailed 0-2 before breaking out for 7 and 4 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to give Westmoreland the lead on their way to an 11-3 victory. Darren DeRiggi had three hits for the Wolfpack, while 6 other members of the Pack collected a hit a piece. Jake Sincak had a triple and 3 RBI's on the day as well.
On the mound, sophomore Riley Smith went 4 innings allowing only 2 hits and 2 earned runs. He also struck out 7 and walking 5 batters. Braden Kane went the last 2 innings allowing no hits and striking out 3.
With these two wins Westmoreland improved their record to 2-1 on the season. They will play host to CCBC Dundalk tomorrow in their first Region 20 doubleheader of the season.
