Wolfpack Win First of 4 at Ripken
After back to back rain outs at Montgomery on Saturday and Sunday, the Westmoreland County Community College baseball team made their way to the Ripken experience in Myrtle Beach. Their first match up in Myrtle saw them take on local rival Penn State Shenango. The Wolfpack trailed Shenango 2-0 until the bottom of the second inning with Wolfpack exploded for four runs, followed by two more in the bottom of the third inning. This was highlighted by freshman Sean Franzi's to run home run. He was later followed by Avery Humphrey's solo home run, which salted away the 8 to 4 victory.
Wow, the wolf pack pounded out seven hits from seven different players. Owen Saiani and Jake Domkowski come on had a double each. While Tyler Martin, Franzi, and Saiani each added 2 RBI's each.
On the mound Erik Streussnig got to start and went to winnings allowing to earned runs on just two hits. He also struck out five. He was followed by Tyler Skaggs who went three innings and earned the victory. Skaggs allowed one hit over his three innings of work. Cameron Elder finished out the final two innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits or striking out one batter.
With the wind, the Wolfpack now move to 4-2 on the season and we'll play Penn State Shenango again tomorrow morning at 10 AM at Myrtle Beach high school and then the Wolfpack will play Northampton Community College at 3pm at the Ripken Experience.
