Westmoreland County Community College finished their 4 game set the same way they started it, with timely hitting and solid pitching, earning them their 4th consecutive win.
Tuesday saw them play a second game against Penn State Shenango, who they defeated Monday afternoon 8-4. The Wolfpack picked right back up, scoring nine runs in the 9-2 victory. Tyler Skaggs homered to left field, scoring Riley Smith in the bottom of the fifth inning. That was one of Skaggs two hits on the day. Larry Weaver got the start going just one inning allowing 0 runs while striking out two. Robbie Andews earned the win going 2 innings allowing 1 hit and no runs, while striking out 1. Darren DeRiggi picked up his first save of the season going 1.1 innings and striking out 1.
Tuesday Afternoon Westmoreland took on Northampton at the Ripken complex. The Wolfpack exploded for 11 runs on 12 hits in the 11-6 win. Owen Saiani had three hits including a triple, while Sean Franzi had 2 hits, one being a double. Owen Dumbroski had 3 RBI'S while Jake Gedikoh's clutch single brought in two runs opened the flood gates for the offense. Miles Beaven took the mound to start and we three innings allowing only 1 hit while striking out 3. Riley Smith pitched a solid 1.2 innings allowing 1 earned run on two hits. Jake Kitz came in pitching the final 2.1 innings and earning his first win of the season. Kitz allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over that span.
Finishing up their games in Myrtle Beach the Wolfpack played Illinois Valley, in a late start game. A game that was to start at 9pm ws delayed until 10:20, and finished up about at about 1:30am. The late night didn't bother the Wolfpack as they scored 14 runs in the 14-10 victory. Tyler Skaggs had 1 RBI in his 3 hits in the game. Jake Sincak had 2 RBI's on his two hits. Eight other Wolfpack batters had a hit each. Owen Saiani, Larry Weaver, and Noah Matson each drove in 2 runs a piece as well. Stevie Hasson took the mound in his first start of the season earning his first win going 3 innings allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 4 batters. Ethan Brody went 1.2 innings allowing no earned runs and allowing only 1 hit. Braden Kane only went 0.1 innings but had a huge strike out to end a bases loaded threat. Riley Smith came in and shut the door going the final 2.0 innings allowing no earned runs and 1 hit.
The Wolfpack sit at 7-2 after the Myrtle trip and will make a stop at Cecil College on Friday afternoon for a Region 20 doubleheader starting at 1pm at Joe Cannon Stadium, the home of Coppin State.
