With the rain stopping Saturday morning, the Westmoreland County Community College baseball team moved their Region 20 matchup against The College of Southern Maryland to the turfed facilities at Greater Latrobe High School.
Game one saw Sophomore Erik Struessnig take the mound. Erik went from start to finish pitching all 7 innings allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out nine batters. The two runs allowed came on two solo homeruns, allowed in the first and fifth innings. The Wolfpack totaled only 5 hits in game one. Jake Sincak and Darren DeRiggi both had 2 hits a piece, both with a single and a double. The only difference was that DeRiggi's double scored Westmoreland's only run in the 2-1 loss. Owen Dumbroski had a hit as well in the game.
Game two saw the Wolfpack's offense come to life as they erupted for 15 runs in the 15-12 win. Westmoreland scored 8 runs in 6 hits in the second inning. Five members of the Wolfpack had 2 hits each ( Sincak, Jake Domkowski, Owen Saiani, Domroski, and DeRiggi). DeRiggi added 5 RBI's to the one he got in game one to continue his hot hitting. Saiani also added in 3 RBI's, including a solo homerun to right field in the forth inning. Tyler Skaggs went the first 3.1 innings allowing 6 runs on 5 hits. Riley smith came in to finish out the fourth inning and picking up the win allowing no runs on 2 hits.
The Wolfpack will rest on Sunday as they prepair for a busy week at home as they play host to 7 regional games this week. Monday they host Essex in a double-header starting at 1pm, followed by back to back games against Hagerstown, a single 9 inning game Thursday and a double-header on Friday. Rounding out the week will be a double-dip against Prince George's on Saturday.
