Due to the forecast of rain on Saturday, the Westmoreland County Community College Baseball team moved their Region 20 doubleheader at Garrett College to Friday afternoon. Erik Struessnig took the mound for game 1, and pitched yet another gem earning his 5th win of the season in a 3-1 victory.
Struessnig dominated on the mound, allowing only 4 hits and 1 run over his seven innings of work. He also struck out 4 batters and walked 1. With the win Erik moves to 5-3 on the season, and has a 3.22 ERA. His 3.22 ERA is the second lowest in the Region 20.
Westmoreland started the scoring in the top of the third inning on a sac fly by Darren DeRiggi scoring the first run for the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack then added a run in the 4th on McKenzie Mills's Double, and then again in the 6th on Sean Franzi's Single. Mills and Owen Saiani both collected two hits for Westmoreland. Westmoreland earned 8 walks in the game 1.
Game 2 was another pitching dual as Garrett earned the 2-0 win. Starter Myles Beavin (2-2) went 5 innings, in the loss, and allowed only 3 hits while striking out 5 Laker batters. In his last three starts, covering 15.1 innings, Myles has only allowed 9 earned runs and has struck out 16 batters. Riley Smith came in a pitched a clean 6th inning allowing no runs and no hits.
The Wolfpack managed only 4 hits in game 2, two of the four hits came from Jake Domkowski. Domkowski had the loan extra base hit, with a double in the 2nd inning. Jake Sincak and DeRiggi each added a hit a piece as well.
