The Wolfpack host Hocking College in Season Opener
The Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack men's basketball team's come back fell just short in a contest on Monday night, falling 93–86 to the Hocking College Hawks in a fast-paced, high-scoring non-conference matchup. The Wolfpack battled throughout the evening, led by Julian Thompson, who turned in a dominant double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Connor Pavlocak added an efficient 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting, while Ryan Burkart provided all-around production with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Westmoreland shot a solid 50.8% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range, displaying offensive balance and ball movement that kept the game close after trailing by 20 points in the first half. The Wolfpack trailed by 16 points at halftime but rallied back strong in the second half pulling within 3 points. Blake White chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Tommy Davis nearly posted a double-double with 9 points and 8 boards. Off the bench, Cameren Layton provided a spark with 9 points, including a key three-pointer midway through the second half. Despite the loss, head coach, Scott Morrison praised his team's effort and execution. "I'm proud of how our guys competed tonight," said Coach Morrison. "We played with great energy and shared the ball well. Hocking's a talented group, but we showed that we can play with anyone when we defend and stay disciplined. This is something we can build on." The Wolfpack (0–1) will look to bounce back later this week as they travel to the Community College of Beaver County to play in their tip off tournament on Friday and Saturday, as they continue non-conference play.
