Men’s Basketball Scores103 in Win Over Butler
The Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team delivered an impressive all-around performance against Butler County Community College, highlighted by dominant interior play, efficient scoring, and strong contributions throughout the lineup.
Westmoreland finished the contest shooting 43.2 percent from the field (35-of-81) and totaled 103 points, while controlling the glass with a commanding 66–rebound effort, including 23 offensive boards.
Sophomore guard Ryan Burkart led all scorers with a game-high 30 points, shooting an efficient 9-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-7 from three-point range. Burkart also added four assists, two steals, and a block in a complete performance.
The frontcourt tandem of Julian Thompson and Tommy Davis proved overwhelming inside. Thompson recorded a remarkable 18-point, 23-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, anchoring the paint and facilitating the offense. Davis added 28 points and 23 rebounds, including 14 offensive boards, giving Westmoreland a significant advantage in second-chance opportunities.
Tyler Anthony contributed 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while providing steady leadership on both ends of the floor. Off the bench, Connor Pavlocak delivered a strong spark with 11 points and six rebounds in 23 minutes.
As a team, Westmoreland showed toughness and resilience, getting to the free-throw line 38 times and generating offense through ball movement with 21 assists.
Westmoreland's balanced scoring, physical rebounding presence, and defensive effort set the tone throughout the game as the team continued to build momentum moving forward in the season.
"This was a total team effort," said head coach Scott Morrison. "We shared the ball, dominated the glass, and played with great energy for 40 minutes. When we rebound like that and take care of our responsibilities defensively, good things happen."
The wolfpack will travel to La Plata, Maryland to take on their next opponent,College of Southern Maryland, for their next opponent and a region 20 matchup.
