Golf Teams Win Hardware at WPCC Championships
Westmoreland County Community Colleges men's and women's golf teams prepared to take part in the WPCC Conference championships Monday and Tuesday at the Links at Spring Church.
The men's team was led once again by Freshman Luke Anderchak whose two day score of 147, 72 and 75, was good enough to take home first place. Freshman Gunnar Shoop was the next low score for the Wolfpack with rounds of 77 and 77, totaling 154. Brodie Cuthbert and Brett Worthington tied in the two day tournament with a final score of 160. Aiden Duffy finished both days with a 162. Rounding out the Wolfpack was Noah Dubyak with a combined score of 168. The men's team's 2 day total of 619 strokes was good enough to hold off Butler at 623 and win the WPCC Conference Title.
On the women's side, Bryn Baluh took the lead on day one and never looked back. Her two day score of 177, 88 and 89 were good enough to take first place by 17 strokes over teammate Jada Ford who combined for a two day score of 194. Finishing in third place overall was Rylee Brawdy with a total of 209 strokes. Rounding out the women's team was Rachael Ayres placing 5th with a score of 243. The two day total for the women's team was 809.
This ends the fall season for the gold teams, as they prepaid to take the winter off before starting the spring season in March, where they will look to win a region title and earn spots at the NJCAA National Championships in June.
