Men's Team Finish 2nd in the Region
Men's cross country wins WPCC Conference, finishes second in the Region.
This past Saturday, the mens cross country team hosted the NJCAA Region 20 Championships, and the WPCC Conference Championships, here at Westmoreland. The men's team, ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA National coaches poll went head to head with the number 10 ranked men from Anne Arundel.
Freshman Dante Frescura, Greater Latrobe, was the top overall individual finisher, winning both the Region 20 and WPCC championships. His time of 28:41, was his fastest 8k time so far this season. This marked his third individual victory this season.
He was followed by Peyton Hause, Howland HS, OH, finishing 8th overall in with a time of 31:57. Rounding out the scoring for the Wolfpack was Micah Conroy, Greater Latrobe, in 10th place. Ben Davis, Mt Pleasant HS, 13th, Jared Bowman, Penns Manor HS, 14th, and Nathan Miller, Penns Manor 18th.
The solid pack running earned the Wolfpack a second place finish in the region with 34 point behind Anna Arundel's 21pts. "The men's team is cominig on very strong, and with 5 personal best 8k times on Saturday, they are ready for the National Championship meet next week," said Coach Comer.
Along with their 2nd place finish in the Region, the men's team claimed the WPCC Conference team championship as well. The Men's team now turns their attention to the NJCAA National Championship meet next Saturday in Milledgeville, GA hosted by Georgia Military College.
