Women's Basketball Returns to Westmoreland
After two seasons with no women's basketball, Westmoreland County Community College, under the new leadership of head coach Michael Brush played their first game since February 18th of 2022. Westmoreland fell to Hockinig college in the game, but there was a number of bright spots in from the game. Freshman Jayla Morales was the leading scorer for the Wolfpack with 7 points. Riley Holmes pulled down 8 rebounds, while Emma Topolosky and Madison Brush both grabbed 7 rebounds each.
This new "Pack" is made up of a number of local talent. Madison Marinchak came from Ligonier Valley, Olivia Aumer from Southmoreland, Topolosky out of Norwin, Brush from Franklin Regional, Holmes coming from Somerset and Morales out of Greater Johnstown. "These ladies are working hard, and will continue to improve each time out on the court," said Athletic Director Patrick Comer. "As a team of all freshman, they learned a lot from their first game."
The Wolfpack will have some time to continue to grow on the court before their next game on November 15th against Hagerstown Community College.
