Westmoreland Travels to #6 in the Country Essex
Sunday afternoon saw the Westmoreland County Community College Women's Basketball team play their toughest opponent yet this season, as they traveled to CCBC Essex who were ranked as the number 6 Division II team in the country. Essex showed why they are one of the top team in the country shooting 53.6% from the field and 41.4% from 3 point range, 24-58 from behind the arch.
The Wolfpack had their highest scoring day of the season against the Knights scoring 42 points in the loss. Freshman Madison Marinchak started the game with 3 straight 3 pointers, putting 9 points on the board for Westmoreland. Madison would finish with a career high 21 points for the Wolfpack. She ended being 7-21 from three point land. Freshman Olivia Aumer was the other member of the Wolfpack in double digits adding in 12 points on the day. Freshman Madison Brush pulled down 7 rebounds for the Wolfpack. Riley Holmes, Emma Topolosky, and Aumer each added in a block each for Westmoreland. Freshman Jayla Morales also swiped 2 steals to lead the way for Westmoreland.
The Wolfpack will get a much needed rest over the holiday break before returning to the court on December 1st as they travel to Penn State Fayette.
