Westmoreland's Lesniak Takes 2nd at CCAC Invitational
APOLLO, Pa. - Westmoreland County Community College first-year player Cori Lesniak posted a strong second round and finished second at the CCAC Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at The Links at Spring Church.
In Monday's first round, Lesniak's day was highlighted by a par on the par-three sixth hole and then scoring a four on the par-three 17th. The solid finish to the opening round helped Lesniak post a first day total of 136 (67-69).
The second round on Tuesday saw Lesniak make great improvements from her opening day. She scored bogeys on a pair of a par threes, as she penciled in 60 on the front nine. The scores kept dropping on the back nine as well, as a couple early fours on that side helped her finish the back with a 57 and card 117 for the day. It was the second best round posted by a women's player in the tournament.
With her strong second day, Lesniak finished with a two-day total of 253, which was good for second place overall behind Sarah Fischer from Butler.
