Ford and Men's Team Place 9th at Nationals
After a long grueling spring season where the men's team won the NJCAA Region 20 Championships; the men's and women's golf teams took on the best DIII junior college golf teams in the country at the NJCAA National Championships in Chautauqua Golf Club in New York.
Jada Ford has been consistent all season long, and she continued that trend during the national championships. Her low round of 89 on day three was one of her lowest as a member of the Wolfpack. Her four-day scores of 96, 94, 89, and 91 gave he a total score of 370. This was good enough to place her 9th overall and claim her second straight All-American honor. Bryn Baluh was next for the Wolfpack shooting a four-day score of 431 (106, 115, 102, and 108). This was good enough for 26th place. Rachael Ayers also took part in the event placing overall with a total score of 578, placing 32nd.
Over the course of the four-day tournament the Wolfpack had their ups and downs. The lowest round of the week came from freshman Luke Anderchak as he shot a round of 72 on day two. Anderchak went on to have the lowest four-day total for the Wolfpack with a score of 309. His rounds were 80, 72, 77, and 80. That was good enough to place him 23rd overall. Gunner Shoup came in next for the Wolfpack with scores of 85, 78, 75, and 83 for a total score of 321. Noah Dubyak was next with a total score of 336, good enough for 51st place overall. Aiden Duffy was next for the Wolfpack with a four-day score of 337. Rounding out the five-man squad was sophomore Bret Worthington with a total score of 347. The Men's team score of 1292 was good enough to place them 9th overall.
With all but three members of the team returning next season, the future is very bright for the golf program here at Westmoreland. The three sophomores were a huge part of this program taking the next step into being a national championship contender.
