Cross Country Places 2 runners in the top 10 at the Catamount Classic
Saturday afternoon saw the Westmoreland County Community College Cross Country teams take part in the very first Catamount Classic Invitational hosted by Potomac State University of WVU. "It was a very hot afternoon," said head cross country Coach Patrick Comer. "The course was tuff, but very fair. There was a lot of elevation gains, and really challenged all the runners, along with the heat. Our athletes were up to the challenge though."
The women's team was the first ones up as they competed in their first 6k of the season. Sophomore Kylie Klinger was once again the Wolfpack's top finisher placing 8th overall with a time of 35:44. Also placing in the top 10 was Sophomore Alexandria Kepple, who placed 10th overall with a finishing time of 37:02. Eva Lichty was the next member of the pack to cross the finish line with a time of 42:28 in 12th place. Sophomore Avery Bailey rounded out the Wolfpack runners with a time of 49:21 in 15th place.
The men's team only saw two members of the team take part in the men's 8k. Sophomore Adam Halinka was paced the men's team with his 16th place finish in a time of 40:58. Freshman Garrett Hosey competed in his first 8k of his career and completed the challenging course in a time of 1:00:29 to place 21st.
