Wolfpack Fall in Close Match at Penn Highlands
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Westmoreland County Community College volleyball team battled in three tightly-contested sets, but came up just short in a 3-0 loss at Penn Highlands Tuesday night.
The Wolfpack led by as many as seven points through much of he first set and held a 21-16 advantage late in the set. But the Black Bears stormed back with a 9-2 run to close the set and take a 25-23 decision. The other two sets were just as close, but Penn Highlands had just enough to pull them out, winning 25-20, 25-22 to complete the sweep.
Samantha Duncan had a strong match for the Wolfpack, as she compiled eight kills and 11 assists. Matching Duncan with eight kills was Jessica Williams, who also had eight blocks and three aces. Morgan Brown passed out 11 assists as well and the back row was paced by Ashley Bish with 11 digs.
Westmoreland will take on Penn Highlands again on Thursday, this time at home in a 6 pm match.
